Allure Magazine Review August 2009 Amy Adams Cover

Allure magazine's massive giveaways this month (August 2009) should be in celebration of an extremely solid August issue. From cover to cover this was one of the best publications in my mail box! Let's take a closer look at some of the best articles and features:

Featuring Amy Adams on the cover was a great idea. I love the fact that she is obviously wearing make-up, but she still comes across as so fresh and naturally beautiful. The actual article about her was exceedingly well done. It came across as a discussion as opposed to the all out love fest some publications throw for their cover person. The last paragraph was my favorite...you'll have to take a look at the magazine to see why. An added bonus for big Amy Adams fans is the photographic chronology presented of her career. I actually tore this page out, so I can catch up on movies I didn't know she was in!

The perpetually lovely Reese Witherspoon was featured in the allure Fashion Stakeout spread. So much loveliness, so much fashion!

The Great Hair Guide also featured Reese Witherspoon as a stellar example of the bob at work. Mid-length and long styles were also highlighted. Makes me want to head to the salon now!

The Nude Lips in the Beauty Report section are stunning looks.

The Fashion Cravings section features a host of leather styles (see page 80). This page is especially appropriate considering Angelina Jolie's recent turn on the Red Carpet in a leather dress.

If you have ever lusted after your hair stylist, then you will get a kick out of reading a story covering your life and potential variations thereof. Dirty Blondes on page 100 talks about women and stylists who end up in bed.

All of the main photo editorials in Allure were visually and contextually stunning. Purple Reign covers variations of purple eyeshadow. Surprisingly, they are all looks the average girl could carry with a little practice. Double Vision is all about hairstyles that combine differing textures. The New Cocoon starts off with an absolutely gorgeous model, adds in delicious designer duds, and comes out with a masterpiece. The woman in this shoot exudes character, no dead behind the eyes photos here. A lot of hats and wraps appear in this shoot, and they are all fabulous. Plugged In is the best layout featuring the neon side of fall fashion I have seen, and I don't think any of the other magazines will be able to top it. Check out the magazine, and you will immediately see why!
